Lithium Alumina Silicate (LAS) glass ceramic composition with variable SiO2 / P2O5 ratios was prepared by melting and quenching on a metal mould. Main scope of the study is to investigate the effect of altering SiO2 / P2O5 ratios between 4,8 and 8,7 on thermal and microstructural properties of this composite material. The results showed that increasing P2O5 amount related to descending SiO2 gave rise to a decrease around 30 °C in sintering temperature and it was observed a prominent variation in crystallization temperatures, however coefficients of thermal expansion slightly related to increased from 0,06.10-6 to 0,22.10-6 (1/°C). The main crystalline phases were observed as virgilite and residual glass from XRD analysis.
