Laser-ablation, utilizing femtosecond laser is a versatile materials modification tool. Our presentation will show its applicability to modify commercial state of the art solid oxide cells for improved gas transport, as well as modification of porous and dense stainless steels. The resulting properties of the materials/cells will be presented, e.g. the electrochemical performance of the solid oxide cells and high-temperature corrosion properties of the modified steels. The laser-ablation can be used post-production to add advanced functionality, e.g. complex gas flow channels structure to optimize gas distribution.
